As communities are finding new and innovative ways to mobilize to combat the spread of COVID-19, many Tribes are reconfiguring existing public health systems to align with emerging and much needed response activities. Featured in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) publication, is an article on how the Hopi Tribe tapped into their Tribally-supported Community Health Representatives (CHRs) to engage in community-based surveillance, testing, and education. There are some important lessons to be learned in this brief article.
